Red-Eyed Tree Frog
17.3 x 12.5 cm
This wall plaque uses rare semi-precious stones and marbles to capture the vibrant colours of the exotic tree frog from the forests of central America. The image depicts the frog stalking an insect.
Extremely high quality lapis lazuli from Northern Afghanistan portrays perfectly the deep blues of the tree frog’s legs. This stone is incredibly difficult to source through usual suppliers and so Thomas takes to the Tuscan hills with a pick axe to find what is needed. The Arno river flows through Florence and it is from here that the stone gets its name.
